Distributed Interactive Learning Environments
نویسنده
چکیده
This chapter describes four systems that introduce new pedagogy, address inequities in the classroom and show improved learning with reduced cost. The first system supports inquiry and casebased learning, moving students towards more active learning, engagement, and hypothesis construction. The next system describes mathematics and geometry tutors that positively influence a student’s confidence and image of mathematics ability. The final system is a web-based homework system used by more than 50,000 students in 20 domains, including physics, chemistry and geology is also discussed. These systems provide solid evidence that electronic teaching can result in increased learning, reduced costs, and improved motivation.

Distributed Multimedia Learning Environments: Why and How?
We outline the societal prospects and business opportunities for much more extensive use of interactive multimedia technologies (IMT) connected through telecommunications to create distributed multimedia learning environments (DMLE). A theoretical framework is provided with a distinctive communications perspective on learning emerging from research in the cognitive and social sciences. A major ...
متن کاملAn A-Life Approach to Machine Learning of Musical Worldviews for Improvisation Systems
In this paper we introduce iMe (Interactive Musical Environments), an interactive intelligent music system based on distributed software agents that is capable of learning to generate music autonomously and in realtime. iMe belongs to a new paradigm of interactive musical systems that we call “ontomemetical musical systems” for which we propose a series of prerequisites.
متن کاملModel of distributed learning objects repository for a heterogenic internet environment
In this paper, an extension of the existing structure of learning objects is described. The solution addresses the problem of the access and discovery of educational resources in the distributed Internet environment. An overview of e-learning standards, reference models and problems with educational resources delivery is presented. The paper describes a new concept of learning component that is...
متن کاملMeeting Interactive Response Targets in Distributed Learning Environments
Distributed Learning Environments (DLEs) represent the hope that communications and information technology can improve and widen access to education while maintaining and improving its quality. Such multi–user environments consist of web-oriented networked applications and services. Our experiences so far have shown that good interactive response time is crucial to their success. Slow responses...
متن کاملThe Collaborative Learning in the e-Learning Environments
Introduction: The collaborative learning and interactive electronic-learning (e- learning) is one of the key factors in education system success. This study examined the collaborative e-learning in the framework of constructivism theory. Methods: This is a review article. The databases such as Scientific Information Databases, Magiran, Science Direct, and Google Scholar were reviewed. Also,...
متن کاملDynamic Obstacle Avoidance by Distributed Algorithm based on Reinforcement Learning (RESEARCH NOTE)
In this paper we focus on the application of reinforcement learning to obstacle avoidance in dynamic Environments in wireless sensor networks. A distributed algorithm based on reinforcement learning is developed for sensor networks to guide mobile robot through the dynamic obstacles. The sensor network models the danger of the area under coverage as obstacles, and has the property of adoption o...
